A 21-YEAR-old woman is in hospital with serious injuries after a two-car collision in Wath.

A 21-YEAR-old woman is in hospital with serious injuries after a two-car collision in Wath. 

It was reported that a blue Ford Transit Van was travelling downhill along Burman Road towards Doncaster Road in Wath, when it was in a collision with a blue Seat Ibiza travelling in the opposite direction at 11.25am on Saturday. 

Police said the driver of the Seat, a woman (21), was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remained.

"The driver of the Transit van, a 35-year-old man, was taken to hospital with minor injuries," added a police spokeswoman. 

Roads Policing Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them. 

"We are particularly keen to speak to a postman who was on Burman Road at the time and may have witnessed the collision," added the spokeswoman.

Fire crews from Rotherham and Dearne stations also attended the scene.

"Firefighters undertook a rapid extrication of the woman who was suffering from abdominal injuries," said a South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson. 

Crews left the scene just before 1pm. 

Witnesses should either call 101, quoting incident number 397 of August 14, or email footage to [email protected].
