Witness plea after pile-up leaves victims seriously hurt

Police believe a maroon Ford Fiesta, travelling towards Oldcotes, was on the wrong side of the road when it hit a white Toyota Hilux going the other way.

The Fiesta driver (35) suffered a fractured right leg and pelvis and was due have surgery at Rotherham Hospital today.

His rear seat passenger (26) suffered broken ribs and other serious injuries and was taken to the same hospital.

Both are said to be in a serious but stable condition. Another passenger (39) sustained whiplash and bruising. He was treated at Rotherham Hospital, but not detained.

The Toyota driver, a 51-year-old man from Maltby, suffered whiplash and bruising and did not go to hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, shortly before 3.30pm on Maltby Road. Call 101, quoting incident 639 of March 25.
