Witness plea after pensioner hurt in road accident

A 55-year-old pedestrian suffered multiple injuries after being hit by a car.

Police understand that the pensioner was struck by a blue Ford Focus at around 5.55pm yesterday after he stepped out onto Nursery Road, North Anston.

A police spokesman said: “A blue Ford Focus driven by a 20-year-old man was travelling along the B6060 Nursery Road, towards Dinnington.

“When the car was outside the Little Mester pub, a man stepped into the road.

“The Focus skidded and collided with the 65-year-old man.

“The pedestrian, a local man, sustained numerous fractures and a head injury and is being treated in Rotherham General Hospital.

“The man driving the Focus was also local and was not thought to have been hurt.”
