Witness plea after Parkway crash

Scott Chitty was a passenger when the car he was in lost control on the Sheffield Parkway as it approached junction 33 of the M1 motorway on April 27.

The 22-year-old from Gainsborough was the front seat passenger in a black Vauxhall Astra that overturned on the left hand bend approaching junction 33 and came to rest in the trees on the roundabout.

Scott was initially taken to Rotherham District General Hospital but later transferred to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield, where he was still being treated this week for life-threatening spinal injuries.

The driver of the Astra, a 20-year-old Retford man, was also taken to Rotherham General Hospital with serious injuries but later released.

An initial media appeal was made on the day of the collision but police are now re-appealing for witnesses given Scott's continued serious condition.

Investigating officer Pc Chris Whitehead said: "I want to know if the Astra was seen

by anyone travelling on the out of city Parkway from Park Square roundabout to the collision site at junction 33, or seen by anyone travelling into the city, just before 1am on Tuesday, April 27."
