A YOUNG woman was left fighting for life after a smash on the A1M on Saturday afternoon.
The 20-year-old was driving on the south carriageway near Tickhill when her black Ford car apparently veered across a lane towards the central reservation.
Police said the vehicle seemed to spin out of control towards the hard shoulder where it hit the crash barrier, rolled along a grass banking and stopped in the centre of the carriageway.
The driver, from Cambridgeshire, suffered life-threatening internal, hip and rib injuries.
She was taken to St James Hospital in Leeds, where she is currently detained.
Any witnesses to the crash, which happened shortly before 4.50pm, are asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident 836 of January 21.
