Witness appeal after M1 bridge death

POLICE appealed for dashcam footage after a man died on the M1 in the early hours of today (Wednesday).

The 24-year-old is thought to have been on the bridge, on School Lane, above the motorway near junction 31 and Woodall services.

He was hit by two HGVs in the northbound carriageway and emergency services were called at about 3.20am.

A police spokesperson said: “He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.

“The northbound carriageway was closed to allow investigations to take place but has since been re-opened. 

“Police are now keen to hear from any motorists who may have been travelling on the M1 this morning who witnessed the incident, as well as those motorists who may hold dashcam footage.”
