The Millers made a move earlier this week to take a right wing-back on loan following the groin injury suffered by Peter Kioso.

Talks have gone well and the new boy could, potentially, make his debut in next Tuesday's Carabao Cup clash with Morecambe.

"His club are really keen for him to come here. The lad is very keen," said Warne this afternoon.

"After we spoke, the agent sent a voice text straightaway saying: 'The player wants to come to you.'"

Earlier this month, Rotherham, who make the Championship trip to QPR on Saturday, had a loan deal lined up for striker Ashley Fletcher only to be gazumped at the last minute by Wigan Athletic.

Warne is optimistic there will be no late hitch this time around.

"The player has other options but unless a club send a him a private jet to persuade him to go there I think we've got a really good chance," the boss said.

"As always, until I see him standing in front of me I wait with bated breath. I am pretty confident."

Rotherham hope to have the deal wrapped up by the weekend but there would be no chance of the wing-back being involved at Loftus Road.

"I haven't got the player in the building today," Warne said. "It wouldn't be fair to get someone in on Friday and then expect them to travel down to London, train with the group, know everything and play on Saturday.

"It will probably be an inclusion on Tuesday."

Someone who could make the squad against QPR is new striker Tom Eaves who has been back in full training since Monday following a calf problem.
