Wickersley St Alban's Primary reopens after emergency closure

A SCHOOL in Wickersley reopened this morning - three days after it was forced to close for urgent repairs.

St Alban's Primary School had to close on Friday (November 30) to all staff and pupils with immediate effect.

The school has now explained the reason for the closure in a post on its website that the closure was down to "safety concerns", after it was discovered there were issues with a full length window in the school hall.

A spokesperson for Rotherham Borough Council said: "The health and safety of pupils is paramount and that is why the council's building management officers arranged for necessary repairs to be carried out over the weekend as a matter of urgency in order to ensure the school was safe to open as normal on Monday.

“The school made all parents and carers aware of the situation and kept lines of communication open with them throughout the process.”
