Wickersley mum's thanks to shoppers whose act of kindness brightened daughter's day

THE mum of a young woman who has lived with serious health problems since she was 16 said she was overwhelmed after kind-hearted supermarket shoppers bought her a giant cuddly toy as a surprise gift.

Nicky Johnson used social media to track down and thank generous couple Joy and Ken Levers after they snapped up the £25 cuddly llama and presented it to 20-year-old Paige.

Paige (above), who has multiple sclerosis, was at the Dalton branch of ASDA with her personal assistant at the time.

Nicky said: “As usual, she was drawn towards all of the cuddly toys that they have on the Christmas displays.

“She was picking up one teddy after another giving them a cuddle.

“A gentleman and his wife were browsing the aisle and asked if she had seen the giant fluffy llamas on the end of the aisle.”

Asked if she would be buying one, Paige said they were too large to fit in her basket, added Nicky, of Wickersley.

“As Paige was leaving the store, this gentleman and his wife came after her, armed with the giant llama — they had bought it for her.

“Paige is so overwhelmed.

“She has been really down for the last few weeks and this act of kindness really put the biggest smile on her face.

“The kindness of this gentleman and his wife makes my heart melt.”

Nicky called the couple “one in a million” as she thanked them for their generosity.

"They are amazing people and I will never forget their utter kindness," she said.
