Investigating officer PC Darren Walker said: “Firearm offences of any kind will not be tolerated in South Yorkshire.

"This shows that you don’t have to use a gun in order to face a significant prison sentence. Even being in possession of a weapon and ammunition is enough to get you arrested, charged and held to account in court.

“We work incredibly hard to gather intelligence and execute warrants on addresses which we believe have links to drugs and weapons. I would urge anyone with suspicions or concerns, to get in touch with police."

PC Walker added that any information, no matter how small, could help get a dangerous weapon off the streets of South Yorkshire.
