Wentworth and Dearne Tory issues pledges

TORY candidate Michelle Donelan has set out her  election promises in a “contract”with voters.

Ms Donelan, who is standing in Wentworth and Dearne, says her “contract” focusses on eight concerns raised by residents, and what she describes as “moral points” which politicians need to take account of.

She said: "I got in politics to help people, real people.  I have set out this contract with residents of Wentworth and Dearne so that they know that in electing me, they'll have a fully transparent, accountable, hard working and constituency based Member of Parliament."

The Tory hopeful has been handing out the document in Wath, Swinton and at the Dearne Valley College, as well as at other locations in the constituency.

Among her contract pledges are: a promise that she will always live locally, a pledge that she will publish details of her expenses and and assurance that she will hold regular surgeries for constituents.

The document echoes the Conservative Party’s National Contract with Britain launched last week, which promises, among other things,  to give voters the right to sack MPs, make Government and local council spending more transparent, increase spending on the NHS and increase the state pension.
