‘We could see them but I doubt they could see us’ — police stop motorist over poor visibility

MOTORISTS are being warned to make sure car windows are properly defrosted before setting off on the roads, after police stopped a car yesterday (Thursday) in Rotherham.

Officers from South Yorkshire Police’s Operational Support said a black Vauxhall Corsa had caught their eye while out on patrol.

The motorist had cleared ice from only a small area of their windscreen (pictured).

An officer said: “We could see them but I doubt they could see us looking through a narrow gap in the ice on the windscreen.

“Please ensure you have good visibility on these cold mornings before driving but don’t leave cars with the engines running and unattended to defrost. Opportunist thieves may be about!”
