A BURST water pipe is causing quite the scene in Rawmarsh this morning after erupting — sending water 80ft in the air
An eye-witness said the incident happened on Hague Avenue after 10am.
"The workman said he'd never seen anything like it," said the bystander. "They had to dodge out of the way when it erupted.
"It looks like workmen may have hit a water main. I can currently see the water shooting into the air from my house — must be 80ft in the air!"
Nearby resident Tracey Atkinson said the fountain was "massive" — adding: "It's well above the height of the houses. It's blown right across causing a nice little river now.
"The workmen keep going to have a look and walking away from it. The water pressure has not reduced at all."
A spokeswoman for Yorkshire Water said: "Our contractors are on-site fixing an issue with one of our customer's supply pipes. Where the so-called fountain has come from is part of the reported complaint.
"It's just one supply pipe to one customer, it's not a widespread issue."
It is hoped the problem will be fixed today, she added.
