VIDEO: Wentworth plane crash

Police and fire crews were called to Wentworth this morning after a light aircraft crashed into a wall in a field.

The aeroplane landed in a field off Hague Lane just after 8am today but skidded on landing and smashed into the wall, which is in the grounds of Wentworth Woodhouse.

A fire service spokesman said that the pilot was safe and not thought to be hurt.

He said that fire crews had attended from Tankersley and Dearne fire stations but that the air accident investigation unit had not been called out.

Hague Lane was blocked at both ends by police cars this morning in the wake of the accident.
