Six fire engines were at the Rawmarsh Progressive Sports and Social Club on Willow Garth at the height of the overnight blaze, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

The fire broke out at 12.30am today (Monday) and three crews were still at the scene at 8.45am damping down, she added.

Crews attended from Rotherham, Dearne, Maltby, Edlington, Parkway and Elm Lane stations, said the spokeswoman.

The cause of the fire, which is across two floors, will be investigated once it has been extinguished, she added.
