LYRICAL Lisa Twigg penned a song for the artist whose music she walked down the aisle to—and was stunned to see him perform it live on stage.

American singer-songwriter Ben Folds improvised piano music to her words after her husband Matt passed the lyrics to him during a Sheffield gig.

Critically-acclaimed Ben had asked for requests and spent five minutes playing Lisa’s OY! I Love You after taking the lyric sheet from Matt (39).

Lisa (38) said: “I can’t even describe how it felt. It was surreal. The fact that he sang a song I wrote just makes me think ‘Wow.’

“The crowd were fantastic and now I’ve got people following me on Twitter, who I don’t even know, saying how brilliant the night was.”

Ben’s 2010 LP Lonely Avenue was a collaborative effort with author Nick Hornby, who wrote the words to which Ben crafted the music.

Matt, of Upper Whiston Close, Whiston, said: “I thought there might be a chance he would be up for singing Lisa’s lyrics because it’s similar to how he did his new album.

“I’d taken the envelope in my pocket because he’s the kind of performer who does improvise on stage."
