VIDEO: Rotherham United boss Paul Warne's message of support for family of fan Danny Dix

ROTHERHAM United boss Paul Warne has sent a message of support to the grieving family of Millers fan Danny Dix.

Danny (38, pictured above right) died two weeks ago — a week after being assaulted in an incident in Bridgegate in Rotherham town centre.

A balloon release and candle-lighting was held in All Saints’ Square in his memory and a shrine of flowers, scarves and other tributes has been created at near the scene of the attack.

Tributes were also paid at the Cutler’s Arms on Westgate, where Saturday’s triple bill feature A Band Called Malice, The Score and Noasis, the last of whom dedicated final song Rock and Roll Star to Danny, of Munsbrough.

Players of the Pewter Pot and AFC Hind Sunday league sides observed a minute’s silence before their game last weekend.

Friends have bound together to raise funds to pay for Danny’s funeral and support his nine-year-old daughter, with almost £7,000 pledged to a GoFundMe page set up by friend Stefen Cox.
