A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a shooting in Wath on Friday night.
Emergency services were called to Burman Road shortly after 8pm following reports of shots being fired outside a supermarket.
The victim, a 29-year-old man, suffered an injury to his back and was taken to hospital. He has since been discharged.
Det Insp Denise Booth said extra police resources were sent to the area over the weekend, with officers carrying out detailed enquiries to establish what happened and provide reassurance to residents.
