VIDEO: Innovative Lifewise safety set nears completion

A TRAIL-blazing project teaching safety to youngsters is close to being completed.

Lifewise—which uses a film set to recreate community dangers—will hold workshops for thousands of children a year from later this month.

The innovative police and fire service collaboration outgrew its former home at Magna and work on the Hellaby site started earlier this year.

Local businesses and volunteers from the community have helped the project exceed expectations, according to acting Inspector Andy Harbon.

Volunteer Andy Houghton (40) said: “Of all the ways I could have volunteered my time, I saw this as a great cause.

“My eldest stepdaughter has been to the previous Lifewise centre for Crucial Crew and I like what it does in helping kids stay out of trouble and teaching them valuable life lessons and skills.”
