Police would like to speak to these two men

DETECTIVES have released footage of two men they want to speak to after a dad was assaulted as he walked through Rotherham town centre with his family.

The 43-year-old man was walking to Rotherham Civic Theatre at 6.20pm on Sunday, December 22, to watch the pantomime with his wife and two children, a police spokeswoman said.

Police said he is believed to have stopped at the Santander cash machine, while his family walked ahead, before walking onto Eastwood Lane.

"It was on Eastwood Lane that two unknown men are understood to have assaulted the 43-year-old from behind, kicking him to the ground and assaulting him," a police spokeswoman said.

"He suffered serious injuries, including broken ribs and concussion.

"The unknown men ran off towards Howard Street after the victim got to his feet."

Police have now released footage of two men they are keen to identify and speak to as part of the ongoing investigation.

Anyone who recognises the men should call police on 101, quoting crime reference 14/194150/19.
