The accidental fire broke out at around 5.20pm at Hodge Clemco and crews were at the scene on Todwick Road for nine hours.

Eight fire engines were deployed to the scene.

A fire service spokesman said the building, which was about 40 metres by 50 metres in size and contained plastic and other materials, was well alight.

Residents were advised to stay indoors and keep their windows and doors closed as a large amount of smoke filled the area.

A temporary caution was also placed on the nearby railway line.

The spokesman said the cause of the blaze was accidental.
