A QUEUE-dodging motorist was caught on camera clipping a cyclist — and driving on without stopping to check the rider was OK.
Calamity almost struck on Centenary Way on Tuesday night when the bike crossed from Main Street and its front wheel was struck by the front end of an oncoming car.
A driver who captured the incident on his dash-cam said the car involved had used the right-hand lane of Centenary Way - which is a "straight on" lane but used to turn rght further up the road.
“Everyone was stationary at the traffic lights,” he said.
“I saw the cyclist at first then noticed the black Vauxhall in my mirror coming down the filter lane to avoid waiting in the traffic.
“It was obvious that he didn’t see the cyclist until last minute.
“It was very strange — he didn’t stop to see if the cyclist was OK. Instead he carried on.”
“I dread to think what could have happened the cyclist had crossed a second or two earlier.”
