VIDEO: Call for all Rotherham councillors to vote on learning disability centre closures

CAMPAIGNERS have called for all Rotherham councillors to be given a vote on the closure of the town’s learning disability centres.

Addressing dozens of protesters outside the Town Hall before this afternoon’s full council meeting, Robin Symonds, of Save Rotherham’s Learning Disability Centres, said the whole council should have its say.

The closure of four centres and a move to users arranging their own activities was approved by Rotherham Borough Council’s cabinet in May. Another centre could close pending consultation.

More than 70,000 people have signed a petition against the move.
