VIDEO: Aerial footage shows scale of recycling plant fire

AMAZING aerial footage shows the scale of the huge plastics fire which engulfed a recycling yard this week — and the enormous plume of smoke and fumes it created.

Reader Phil Campbell, from Rawmarsh, shot the film using a remote controlled drone.

Crews from five stations were dispatched to Universal Recycling in Wharf Road, Kilnhurst, to tackle a blaze of more than 500 tonnes of plastic.

Residents were evacuated from their homes, pupils were sent home early from school, roads were closed and buses were diverted.

The fire was finally put out on Wednesday morning.
