The first phase is on track and an opening is planned for early next year at the former Pithouse West site next to Rother Valley Country Park.

Gulliver’s managing director Julie Dalton said: “I am pleased to say construction of Gulliver’s Valley is going ahead as scheduled and we are on track for phase one completion in spring 2020.

“This first phase will have around 20 rides and attractions, perfect for families with children aged two to 12.

“Construction has started on our western themed area. We have a few rides in place and the paths are taking shape too. It’s fantastic to see years of planning emerging from the ground.”

The £38 million project will be built over several phases — eventually being ten times the size of the first Gulliver’s, opened at Matlock Bath in 1978 by Julie’s dad Ray.
