Victim slashed with axe in burglary at Aston

A MAN was attacked with an axe during an aggravated burglary in which a phone, Xbox and clothes were stolen.

The victim suffered “significant” injuries to his face and slash marks on his back, South Yorkshire Police said.

Rotherham CID has appealed for information at the incident on Conyers Drive, Aston, at 10.10pm on April 16.

Police said five or six people gained entry to the address using an axe, with one offender using the weapon to assault the 22-year-old victim.

A phone, Xbox, trainers and other clothes were taken from the flat.

A police spokesperson said: “Do you have any information? If you can help, please contact us through 101 quoting incident number 1076 of 16 April.

“You can also report information to Crimestoppers and remain completely anonymous, either through their website or by calling 0800 555 111.”
