Vehicles and rubbish burned in fires across Dearne Valley

A MERCEDES was set alight deliberately in an arson attack in Mexborough on Saturday.

Firefighters from Dearne station were called to the deliberate fire on Doncaster Road at 8.40pm and left at 9.55pm, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

A crew from the same station was called to a vehicle fire at 2am on Saturday on Lansdown Close, Thurnscoe, and left the scene after an hour, she added.

The cause of the fire is unknown, she said.

Firefighters from Dearne station were called to a deliberate rubbish fire on Wharf Road, Kilnhurst, at 9.10pm on Sunday and left the scene at 10.05pm.

Arsonists burned a Transit van at 2.50am on Monday on Old Cross Lane, Wath, the spokeswoman said.

Firefighters from Dearne station were at the scene until 3.45am.
