Van driver (26) dies after fatal collision in Rawmarsh

A VAN driver died and two other men were left injured following a collision near Swinton.

A VAN driver died and two other men were left injured following a collision in Rawmarsh.

The 26-year-old driver of a Ford Transit was pronounced dead at the scene on Warren Vale after the incident at 11.40pm on Saturday, police said.

A spokeswoman said the van had been in collision with a grey VW Polo near the junction with Kilnhurst Road.

"The driver of the van was sadly pronounced dead at the scene," added a police spokeswoman. "His family is being supported by our officers at this time."

The 22-year-old man driving the Polo was taken to hospital with serious chest injuries while a 30-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries.

Any witnesses to the collision or the driving of each vehicle beforehand is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 1119 of July 3.
