The A6123 Aldwarke Lane, Parkgate, was closed to all traffic at about 12.50pm on Monday.

Despite ongoing efforts throughout the day today to try and re-open the road, a spokeswoman for Network Rail confirmed it will not be open this evening.

"The road will not be open today or tomorrow," she added. "It is more likely to be Thursday at this stage.

"The cold weather has meant the concrete used to fix the bridge hasn’t set and is not safe to re-open the road at the moment.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this causes."

Meanwhile, Carr Lane at Thrybergh remains closed for gas repairs by Cadent.

These roadworks are expected to be completed on Friday, Rotherham Borough Council has said.
