Unemployment down in Rotherham as claimant count drops by four per cent

THE jobless figure for Rotherham is down four per cent on last year.

Statistics released on Tuesday showed there were 4,080 Jobseeker’s Allowance claimants in the Rotherham district, which includes Maltby, Mexborough and Dinnington.

This was down 150 people on the same time last year.

Youth employment also fell, with 800 claimants aged between 18 and 24 — a fall 19 per cent on last year.
