Two teenagers charged in connection with Lewis Williams murder

TWO more teenagers have been charged with the murder of Swinton man Lewis Williams.

The boys, aged 15 and 17, were charged yesterday evening (Wednesday) and were due to appear  at Doncaster Magistrates' Court today charged with murder.

The boys cannot be named for legal reasons.

Mr Williams died after a reported shooting on Wath Road, Mexborough, at 4.26pm on January 11.

Four people have already appeared at Sheffield Crown Court charged with the murder of Mr Williams.

Jack Parkes (20), of Arnold Crescent, Doncaster; Ryan Nisbet (20), of Springwood Road, Barnsley; and two boys aged 16 and 17, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at a hearing on Monday.

They are due to enter pleas at a hearing on April 16 and a trial, scheduled to last three weeks, is due to begin on September 6.

A total of 13 people have now been arrested or charged in connection with the death of Mr Williams.

  • A 22-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed.
  • A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed.
  • A 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed.
  • A 54-year-old Rotherham man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder has been bailed.
  • A 21-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been bailed.
  • A 49-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been bailed.
  • An 18-year-old man arrested on suspicion of burglary has been bailed.
