Two more deaths and Covid hospital inpatient numbers on the rise as cases in Rotherham double

TWO more people have died after testing positive for Covid-19 at Rotherham Hospital, which now has 50 inpatients with the virus.

As of this morning, three patients with Covid were also in critical care at the hospital.

The latest deaths brings the total of Covid-positive patients who have died at the hospital since the start of the pandemic to 716.

The total number of inpatients who have tested positive since Covid-19 began is now 3,625. 

In the last seven days, 3,254 people have tested positive in the borough — a rise of more than 100 per cent on the week before 

More than 84 per cent of the population aged over 12 have had their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, more than three quarters (78.5 per cent) have had their second, and over half (57.5 per cent) have received a booster jab.
