Two more arrests in New Year’s Day murder investigation

DETECTIVES investigating the death of a man who died after being beaten and stabbed in Rotherham on New Year’s Day have made two more arrests, bringing the total number of arrests to ten.

Following an updated appeal for information into the death of Fatjon Oruci, police made two arrests at Leeds Bradford Airport on two separate days.

On Saturday, January 29, a 21-year-old man from Rotherham was arrested on suspicion of murder.

On Wednesday, a 31-year-old man, also from Rotherham, was also arrested at the airport.

Fatjon, (22), from London, was found on Doncaster Road at around 1.20am on Monday, January 1. 

A post mortem found he died of “catastrophic injuries as a result of beating”, and had also been stabbed.

Of the previous eight arrests made in the investigation, three men aged 25, 33 and 44, remain released under investigation. Two further men, aged 21 and 28, have been released on police bail whilst enquiries continue.
