Two men impersonating NHS staff attempt 'distraction theft' at Rawmarsh home

TWO men claiming to be NHS cleaners entered a house in Rawmarsh yesterday afternoon (Thursday) in an attempted theft.

The bogus officials entered the address in Cornwell Close at 2.45pm.

"It is believed that two men claiming to be NHS staff entered the address under the pretence of cleaning the property," said a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police..

"While one of the men distracted the occupant, the other man went upstairs. It is not yet confirmed if anything was taken," she added.

Police stressed house cleaning is not an NHS service and reassured residents an investigation had been launched to identify the culprits.

"Scams of this nature will not be tolerated and we urge people to remain vigilant at this time," added the spokeswoman.

"We would encourage anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to come forward."

Call 101 quoting investigation number 14/51847/20 if you have any information.
