Two in court over early-hours post office raid

A MAN and a woman have appeared in court in connection with the burglary of a post office.

The raid happened at Wombwell Post Office’s High Street premises  at 4.20am on Tuesday, June 21. 

It was reported that offenders had damaged the cash registers and taken a large amount of cash.

Carl Levitt (38), of Wright Crescent, Wombwell, has been charged with burglary, attempting to conceal/disguise/convert/transfer/remove criminal property and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property.

Amy Hollinger (37), also of Wright Crescent, Wombwell, has been charged with handling stolen goods, attempting to conceal/disguise/convert/transfer/remove criminal property and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property.

Levitt and Hollinger appeared at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday.

Levitt has been remanded to prison, while Hollinger was bailed to next appear at Sheffield Crown Court on July 28.
