Two held after shots fired in Wath

TWO men have been arrested after shots were fired from a car in Wath yesterday (Wednesday).

Shots were fired from a dark grey or black car and a white BMW travelling in convoy on Quarry Hill Road at around 4.20pm, a police spokeswoman said.

Ten minutes later, a black 4x4 crashed into a tree, close to the scene on Hoober Lane/Angel Lane at Brampton Bierlow, she added.

Police have not established whether the vehicle was linked to the shooting.

Officers closed the road while they carried out their enquiries.

No injuries were reported to the police, said the spokeswoman.

Two men, aged 24 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and remain in police custody.

Anyone with information or dash-cam footage that could help the investigation is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 590 of October 21.
