Two flee as firebugs torch caravan

TWO people were evacuated from their home early this morning as a fire gutted a caravan beyond recognition.

Firefighters suspect the cause of the blaze was arson.

Crews from Elm Lane station were called to farmland on Lodge Lane, Thorpe Hesley, shortly before 1.30am.

Two nearby residents were evacuated over concerns about cylinders found near the fire.

Firefighters left the scene at about 3am and a spokesman said the incident looked to be deliberate.
