Two due in court over Millers trouble

TWO men arrested after violent clashes at a Rotherham United match last month will appear in court before Christmas.

One football fan has been charged with assaulting a police officer and committing a public order offence at the game against Bradford City on November 9.

The man — who has not yet been named by police — is due to attend Rotherham Magistrates’ Court next Thursday.

A second supporter was arrested for throwing missiles during post-match clashes.

He has since been bailed by police, to appear before magistrates on Christmas Eve.

Violence erupted in the away stand minutes before the end of the match against Bradford, which Rotherham won 3-0.

In it police and stewards were pushed to the floor and a lit smoke bomb was thrown on the pitch behind the Millers’ goal.

Three fans arrested on suspicion of affray at the game have also been bailed while investigations continue, a police spokeswoman confirmed on Tuesday.

A sixth man was given a fixed penalty notice for committing a public order offence at the game.
