Two car fires in as many hours in Mexborough

FIRE crews tackled three arson attacks on cars in Mexborough over the weekend – including two in just two hours.

Firefighters from Dearne station were first called out to deal with a deliberate vehicle fire at Pastures Road at 2.30am on Saturday.

They left the scene just after 3am.

An hour-and-a-half later, a Vauxhall Corsa was set alight in Pitt Street.

The crew was at the scene for 45 minutes.

At 9.45pm on Sunday, a crew from the same station was scrambled to Dearne firefighters attended a Cygnet Drive, where they were in action for almost an hour

Another fire tackled over the weekend was at Hickleton Road in Barnburgh.

A crew from Dearne station was called out at 7.10pm on Saturday to an accidental fire involving corn in a field, and left the scene at 7.55pm.
