Two burglaries disturbed by homeowners within two days

TWO burglaries were interrupted by homeowners within two days across Aston and Swallownest.

The first incident occurred on Chelmsford Avenue, Aston, when a homeowner returned at around 2.15pm last Tuesday (22) to discover burglars in their property.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said the burglars fled the scene empty-handed.

The following day a homeowner disturbed burglars who were stealing jewellery from their address on High Street, Swallownest, at around 8.20pm.

The burglars made off with “a quantity of jewellery”, added the spokeswoman.

Chief Supt Rob Odell, of South Yorkshire Police, said the offences were not believed to be linked.

"There are forensic opportunities we are pursuing," he said.

"Both matters are ongoing."

Chief Supt Odell said no specific descriptions of the suspects had been provided to police.

Anyone with information about the incidents should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101.
