Two arrested for murder in missing man investigation

DETECTIVES investigating the disappearance of a man with connections to Rotherham who has not been seen for more than two years have made two further arrests.

Two men from Barnsley, aged 46 and 48, were arrested yesterday on suspicion of the murder of Richard Dyson and have since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

Richard (58, pictured) was last seen by his daughter, Bethany Dainty (21), in Aston on Friday, November 15, 2019.

Police said she had reported him missing on November 25 after he failed to turn up for an arranged meeting.

A missing person investigation was launched, and enquiries established Richard had last been seen on Sunday, November 17 at about 11pm, walking along the A6135 Sheffield Road in Hoyland, near to Parkside Farm.

In March, three men aged 43, 51 and 68, all from Barnsley, and a 67-year-old man from Rotherham were also arrested on suspicion of murder.

They all remain released under investigation as further enquiries continue.

Last December, Ms Dainty, of Catcliffe, spoke of her anguish of having to spend Christmas without her dad.

She said she a very close relationship with her dad and had missed spending his birthday, Christmas and Father’s Day with him.

The police investigation has included land searches, CCTV checks and a forensic examination of Richard’s telecommunications and his three cars. a spokesperson said.
