The Fortify team’s main aim is to disrupt organised crime. They were joined yesterday (Tuesday) by mounted officers.

Det Insp Steve Smith, who leads the team, said: “They were out there listening to the community and acting on information that is passed to them.

“I would once again appeal to the people of Mexborough to work with us on this. You know who the people committing the crimes are.

“You know where the drugs, weapons and cash are. We need you to share this information with us so we can help make your neighbourhood a safer place to be.”
