Two arrested and drugs seized in Mexborough

A MAN and a woman were arrested after police raided two properties and seized hundreds of pounds worth of heroin and cannabis.

Police from Doncaster’s dedicated organised crime team  carried out raids on Flowitt Street, Mexborough on Wednesday.

A quantity of suspected heroin with a street value of around £500 and cannabis, with an estimated street value of £320, were seized as well as £500 in cash.

The 37-year-old man and 39-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and have been released under investigation.

Interim crime manager for Doncaster, Det Chief Insp Paul Wilson, said: “I want to offer my assurance to our communities in Doncaster that this is just the start of a dedicated, consistent and robust approach to tackling crime and disorder across the borough.

“The local neighbourhood policing team have been carrying out high visibility patrols in the area and yesterday (Thursday) they also issued four men with summons to appear in court for an incident of violent disorder in Mexborough earlier this year.

“Additional patrols and partnership work will continue to provide reassurance to our communities.

“We will not tolerate any form of criminality and I would urge residents to please come forward with any information by anonymously contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
