A MAN and woman were arrested after shots were fired in Rawmarsh in the early hours of today (Thursday).

Police attended the junction between Kilnhurst Road and Lime Tree Crescent just before 2.10am.

Officers arrested a 46-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman. No-one was injured and police say enquiries are ongoing.

Det Chief Insp Paul Murphy, from the armed crime team, said: “We believe this was a targeted incident and have no cause to believe there is an ongoing risk to the wider public.

“If you have any information which could assist, please report it as a matter of urgency by speaking to an officer or calling 101 quoting reference 77 of July 22.

“Residents in the area can expect to see an enhanced policing presence today as investigations continue.

“Officers will be conducting house-to-house enquiries and a cordon will remain in place at the scene.”
