Trio told they can leave

THREE Rotherham United players have been transfer-listed ahead of the new season.

Swinton-born Ryan Cresswell, midfielder Danny Schofield and ‘keeper Jamie Annerson have been told they won’t be automatic first team regulars next term and that they can leave if something becomes available.

The decision by Steve Evans’ is likely to be a bitter blow to Cresswell, who as a supporter of the club is likely to miss out on the chance to play at the New York Stadium.

Schofield meanwhile, who joined on a free transfer from Millwall just 12 months ago, will also be looking for a move.

After the signings of Kari Arnason and Michael O’Connor, plus the competition of Mark Bradley, Jason Taylor and Ben Pringle, the 32 year-old would have found it difficult to break into the first-team squad.

Annerson was one of the first to be told that his position was under threat.

With the signing of experienced Scott Shearer and with veteran Andy Warrington still at the club, the former Sheffield United shot-stopper is another player who would have found it difficult to break into the first-team set-up.
