Tributes to M18 death crash victim

DEVASTATED relatives of M18 crash victim Jemma O’Sullivan say her death has left “an unimaginable void” in their lives.

Pharmacy student Jemma (22) was killed in a four-car pile up as she moved to Sunderland for her final year at university.

She was travelling from Reading with her boyfriend on September 3 when the crash happened just north of the Hellaby junction.

An inquest into her death was opened in Doncaster on Friday morning.

Family members have described Jemma as a bright and intelligent young woman who was full of personality.

Their statement added: “She was a giving and loving individual, generous to a fault who brought nothing but joy to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her.

“Jemma touched a lot of people and did a lot of good in her short life.

“Her compassion and generosity knew no bounds when it came to charity work as she spent hours of her own time helping those less fortunate.”

Selfless Jemma was a volunteer at Limerick’s Milford Hospice in her native Ireland from the age of 16.

She also spent six weeks tending to terminally-ill patients in Leratong, a South African Aids hospice and children’s creche, in summer 2009.

Her family said: “To lose our angel in such tragic and horrific circumstances has left an unimaginable void within our family which time will never heal.

“She was a devoted daughter, a loving sister and the most caring person you could ever meet. The world is a far poorer place today without our angel.

“She will be forever missed by her loving father, mother, brother, sister and extended family.”
