TRIBUTES have been left at the scene of a crash where an uncle and his nephew plunged into the River Don.
Flowers and notes have been left on Meadowhall Way, Sheffield, where two men, named locally as Josh Hydes (20) and his uncle Tommy Hydes (24), died on Saturday.
Police were called to reports of a vehicle in the water just after 7pm on Saturday, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said.
A white GLS Mercedes had gone through the railings on the bridge before entering the River Don.
Emergency services, who responded quickly, tried to free the two men but they were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead, added the spokesperson.
Family members have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.
Fireworks were set off in memory of Josh and Tommy at Kiveton Park Recreation Ground last night.
Josh’s brother, Tim Hydes, who shared details of the event on Facebook, earlier posted a tribute to his brother which read ‘Love you my brother’.
