Trial date set for Rotherham man accused of Sheffield murder

A DALTON man will stand trial in March over the fatal stabbing of a man in Sheffield.

James Lee (31), of Doncaster Road, Dalton, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court today (Wednesday) charged with killing 24-year-old Mohamed Issa, who was found stabbed in Sheffield High Street at 4.30pm last Friday and died 45 minutes later.

He did not enter a plea and a trial was scheduled for March 1 next year.

Det Chief Insp Paul Murphy said: “We remain keen to hear from anyone who was in the city centre on Friday who might have witnessed what happened.

“We know there may have been people in the area who witnessed the incident, but have yet to come forward with information.

“You might think your input is insignificant, but any information you have could be crucial for our investigation.

“I would also ask that people check their CCTV cameras and dashcams for any footage recorded around the time of the incident that might help us.”

Anyone with information that might help officers should call 101 quoting incident number 585 of September 17 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Lee was remanded in custody and is due to appear at a further hearing at the crown court on November 26.
