Treeton man to go on trial for Sheffield father’s murder as co-defendant changes plea

A ROTHERHAM man is due to stand trial charged with murdering a Sheffield father-of-three.

Caine Gray (27), of Treetown Crescent, Treeton, has been charged with the murder of Jarvin Blake (22) in Burngreave on March 8 last year.

Mr Blake was stabbed to death in broad daylight at the junction of Catherine Street and Brackley Street.

Gray will stand trial accused of murder along with two other men — Devon Walker (25), of Burngreave, Sheffield, and Josiah Foster (26), of Cookson Close, Sheffield.

Walker is also charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

A fourth man also charged with murder — Lewis Barker (27), of Parson Cross, Sheffield — changed his plea today (Monday) to guilty on the first day of the trial at Sheffield Crown Court.

Barker was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at the conclusion of the four-week trial.
