Travellers ordered off Greasbrough playing field

Rotherham Borough Council said it would go to court if the caravans have not been moved from Greasbrough Playing Fields by tomorrow.

The pop-up settlement appeared on the field at the end of last week.

The council’s assistant director for community safety and street scene, Tom Smith, said: “We are aware of the travellers at this location, who have been issued with a notice to quit the site by Thursday.

“If that is not complied with, then an application to the County Court for a possession order will be made early next week.

"Once vacated, the site will be visited to ensure any waste is removed and identify if any further enforcement action is necessary.”
